If you're like me, you'll have a tough time deciding which event to attend this year, as they're both scheduled on the same day.

This year, the Sandhill Soaring Club is hosting the Michigan Soaring Banquet at the Michigan Union. This year the featured speakers are Tom Knauff and Doris Grove, probably two of the most experienced ridge soaring pilots in the world.
The food is great, as is the "Union" venue.

On the same date, the Chicagoland Glider Council is hosting their 2007 Midwest Spring Soaring & Safety Seminar at the Business Conference Center at Elgin Community College in Elgin, IL.

This event reads like a "Who's Who" of Soaring: Derek Piggott on Glider Safety, Karl Striedieck and John Cochrane on Competition, and Dean Carswell and Curt Lewis on Cross Country Soaring. This is another First class venue. The morning snacks and lunch last year were great. John DeRosa, Scott Wolf, and the CLGC do a great job of putting this event together every year.
